Unionization

Unionization elections will occur on Thursday, February 23 from 9:00am - 1:00pm and from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. Elections will be held in the following departments of GSAS: East Asian Languages and Literatures, English, Geology and Geophysics, History, History of Art, Mathematics, Physics, Political Science, and Sociology. On Wednesday, January 25th, the NLRB approved UNITE HERE Local 33’s petitions to hold elections in nine departments - East Asian Languages and Literatures, English, Geology and Geophysics, History, History of Art, Mathematics, Physics, Political Science, and Sociology.

“The National Labor Relations Board will conduct a secret ballot election among the employees in the units found appropriate above. Employees will vote whether or not they wish to be represented for purposes of collective bargaining by UNITE HERE LOCAL 33.” - NLRB

Many Yale students are currently discussing the recent NLRB decision allowing graduate students the right to unionize.  The Graduate and Professional Student Senate (GPSS) maintains a neutral position on unionization and is committed to assisting students in these discussions.  If you have a comment, please submit it here.
